How I used Amazon to Read Books For Free | by Jasmeet Singh
Obstacle Is The Way:-
Those who know me, know how ardent a reader I am. Keeping up with my reading habit wasn’t at all easy during my college days though.
As is the case with most students from humble financial backgrounds, there was a significant mismatch between the available resources and desires.
But there’s a very popular saying,
Instead of inhibiting my reading habit, this financial obstacle actually drove me into devising ways to fund my reading habit.
How I used Amazon to Read Books For Free:-
Back during my engineering days, from 2013 to 2017, of the many ways I discovered to read books for free, the most convenient was one that exploited a loophole in Amazon’s return policy.
Amazon used to offer a 30-Day No-Question Return Policy on books.
By now you must have guessed what was wrong with that policy.
What I used to do:-
- Order books,
- Make the payment
- Read it within the next 30 days, and
- Return it and get a refund.
Irrespective of the size of the book, 30 days was more than enough for me.
It was definitely a loophole because Amazon, later on, revised their return policy on books from 30 days Return to 10 Day Replacement.
5 years down the line, things have changed a lot.
I’m still reading books without spending money on them but in morally acceptable ways 🙂
